Skana IV is a strong, seaworthy ship. We purchased her in 1998 in Kingston, Ontario. That first season we cruised the Thousand Islands. At the end of the season we sailed her up Lake Ontario to Toronto. At the beginning of the following season we did extensive work to her, including replacing a forward bulkhead. We spent that summer sailing Lake Ontario.
The following season we dropped her mast and spent the summer motoring up the Trent-Severn waterway to Penetanguishine on southern Georgian Bay, where we have sailed her since.
This past season we spent the month of August circumnavigating Georgian Bay and the North Channel. At times we encountered 3 meter waves, and 30+ knot winds. Skana handled wonderfully - at no time did we not feel safe.
